Meghalaya Street Vendor Survey (GIS-based Survey App and Portal)

Meghalaya Street Vendor Survey – Empowering Urban Planning with GIS Technology

Introduction

The Government of Meghalaya aimed to gain a comprehensive understanding of its street vendor population for better urban planning, policy formulation, and welfare initiatives. They needed a robust and efficient system for data collection, visualization, and analysis. Marketing Wire partnered to develop a GIS-based survey application and portal to address this critical need.

Challenges

Lack of accurate and up-to-date data on street vendors across the state.

Inefficient manual data collection processes, prone to errors and delays.

Difficulty in visualizing the geographical distribution of vendors for effective planning.

Need for a centralized platform for data management and analysis.

Our Solution

Marketing Wire developed a user-friendly mobile application for field surveyors to collect data, including location tagging via GIS, vendor details, business type, and other relevant information. We also built a web-based portal for administrators to:

  1. Monitor survey progress in real-time on a map interface.
  2. Manage collected data securely.
  3. Generate insightful reports and visualizations based on geographical and demographic parameters.
  4. Export data for further analysis and integration with other government systems.
